Self Reflection

Folks, as a society we need to pause for self reflection. Each act of mass murder sees predictable reactions from both sides of the divide. Each hoping the aggressor is from ‘the other side’.  Hoping the act of insanity will damage the opposition.  I’ll save the ‘house divided’ speech for another time.

We must move beyond politics, beyond the obvious ‘what and how’ cliched debates; guns, trucks, knives, bombs, fire, etc.

We must stop the bickering over method and begin the process of understanding why these atrocities are committed.

We have a problem and it’s not going to resolve itself. We must set aside our biases and take a long look at the real problem - for starters - our mental healthcare industry has become the concern of billing hours, hurry up and wait and liability over diagnosis, rehabilitation and cure.

It’s going take more than political rhetoric to fix these problems. And, I cannot think of a better time than now to begin.
